Error Code: ER Difficulty: Hard
Problem: Membrane switch failure.
How to Fix ER Error (Step-by-Step)
- Unplug the dryer from the wall outlet to ensure your safety by completely disconnecting the power.
- Remove the screws securing the top panel of the dryer, which are typically located at the back or on the sides. Lift the top panel off to access the control console.
- Carefully take photos of the wire connections to the main control board for reference. Locate the thin, flat ribbon cable that connects the membrane switch to the control board and gently unplug it.
- Remove the control knob if present, and then unscrew the main control board and its housing from the front console. This will expose the back of the membrane switch keypad.
- The old membrane switch is attached with adhesive. Carefully peel the old, faulty keypad off the front of the control console. Clean any residue off the surface before applying the new one.
- Align the new membrane switch carefully with the button cutouts on the console and press it firmly into place. Re-secure the control board and its housing, then reconnect the ribbon cable to the board.
- Reassemble the dryer by securing the top panel with its screws. Plug the dryer back into the power outlet and run a test cycle to confirm that the new keypad is working correctly.
- Turn the appliance off, wait about 2 minutes, then turn it back on.
