How to Fix Electrolux Dishwasher Error HD OR HO

Error Code: HD OR HO Difficulty: Easy

Problem: The dishwasher is in “Heat Delay” or “Heater On” mode, allowing the water to reach the optimal temperature.

How to Fix HD OR HO Error (Step-by-Step)

    1. Recognize this is a normal part of the dishwasher’s operation and not an error.
    2. The dishwasher is simply pausing the wash cycle to heat the water to the required temperature for optimal cleaning and drying.
    3. Do not open the door or press any buttons, as this can interrupt the process.
    4. The cycle will automatically resume once the water is hot enough.
    5. No action is needed; just allow the dishwasher to complete its cycle.
    6. Turn the appliance off, wait about 2 minutes, then turn it back on.
    7. Check for simple blockages (lint screen, drain path, or filter) and clean anything you find.

  • How to Fix Electrolux Dishwasher Error ER-09

How to Fix Electrolux Dishwasher Error ER-09

    Error Code: ER-09 Difficulty: Moderate

Problem: There is a communication failure between the user interface control and the electronic control board.

How to Fix ER-09 Error (Step-by-Step)

    1. Begin by completely disconnecting the dishwasher from power. Locate the circuit breaker for the dishwasher in your home’s electrical panel and switch it to the ‘OFF’ position for at least 5 minutes to allow the internal electronics to fully reset.
    2. After waiting, restore power by switching the circuit breaker back to the ‘ON’ position.
    3. Attempt to start a new wash cycle. If the ER-09 code reappears, you will need to inspect the wire connections. Turn off the circuit breaker again before proceeding.
    4. To access the controls, you will need to remove the inner door panel. Open the dishwasher door and remove the series of screws (usually Torx head) around the perimeter of the inner panel.
    5. With the screws removed, carefully separate the inner and outer door panels. Locate the user interface control board at the top of the door and the main electronic control board, typically at the bottom. Find the wiring harness that connects these two components.
    6. Carefully inspect the connection points. Unplug the wire harness connector from the main control board and then from the user interface board. Look for any signs of corrosion or loose pins. Firmly plug the connectors back into their sockets, ensuring they are fully seated.
    7. Reassemble the door panel by securing it with the screws you previously removed. Restore power at the circuit breaker and try running a cycle to see if the communication error is resolved.
    8. Turn the appliance off, wait about 2 minutes, then turn it back on.

When It’s Better to Replace Than Repair

Sometimes replacing an appliance makes more financial sense than putting more money into repairs.
Here are a few signs it may be time to shop for a new one:

    • Appliance over 8-10 years old
    • Repair cost over 50% of replacement
    • Multiple recent breakdowns
    • Major component failure
