How to Fix DE Error (Step-by-Step)

  1. Disconnect the washer from its power source by unplugging it from the wall outlet.
  2. Open the washer door to access the door lock assembly, which is located on the front frame of the machine where the door latches.
  3. To access the lock, you must peel back the outer portion of the large rubber door seal (bellow). This is often held in place by a spring clamp that can be carefully pried off.
  4. With the seal pulled away, you will see the screws that mount the door lock assembly to the washer’s frame. Remove these screws.
  5. Carefully reach in and pull the lock assembly out. Disconnect the electrical wire connector attached to the back of the lock.
  6. Plug the wire connector into the new door lock assembly, position the new lock in place, and secure it with the mounting screws.
  7. Re-secure the rubber door seal with its clamp, plug the washer back in, and test the door.
  8. Turn the appliance off, wait about 2 minutes, then turn it back on.
