How to Fix F21 Error (Step-by-Step)

1. Check the washer’s drain hose for any clogs or kinks. Ensure it is not sealed into the house standpipe, as it needs an air gap to drain properly.
2. Unplug the washer. Prepare for water to spill by placing towels and a shallow pan on the floor.
3. Most Amana front-loaders have a small access door at the bottom-front of the machine. Open it to find the drain pump filter cap.
4. Slowly twist the cap counter-clockwise to drain the remaining water into your pan. Once drained, fully remove the cap.
5. Clean out any debris from the filter, such as lint, coins, or buttons. Also, check inside the pump housing for any obstructions.
6. If the filter is clear and the washer still won’t drain, the drain pump is likely defective and needs to be replaced.
