Problem: The water is not heating up. The heating element inside the tub is likely burned out or disconnected. The temperature sensor is reading no change in heat.
How to Fix 5 Error
- UNPLUG washer from electrical power. Remove rear access panel.
- Manually rotate drum/agitator assembly. Listen for grinding, squealing, or feel for binding resistance.
- Disconnect motor wiring harness. Label all connections before removal.
- Test motor winding resistance between all terminal pairs (U-V, V-W, W-U). Readings must be balanced (2-5Ω). Open/shorted windings require motor replacement.
- Inspect motor area for foreign objects (bra wires, coins) jamming rotor. Remove obstructions carefully.
- If motor tests faulty or bearings are seized, replace entire motor assembly using OEM part DC34-00030A.
- Remove drive components (belt/pulley), stator mounting bolts, and rotor assembly. Install new motor following reverse procedure.
- Reconnect wiring. Run motor test cycle to verify smooth acceleration and correct rotation direction.
