How to Fix ER-09 Error (Step-by-Step)

1. Begin by completely disconnecting the dishwasher from power. Locate the circuit breaker for the dishwasher in your home’s electrical panel and switch it to the ‘OFF’ position for at least 5 minutes to allow the internal electronics to fully reset.
2. After waiting, restore power by switching the circuit breaker back to the ‘ON’ position.
3. Attempt to start a new wash cycle. If the ER-09 code reappears, you will need to inspect the wire connections. Turn off the circuit breaker again before proceeding.
4. To access the controls, you will need to remove the inner door panel. Open the dishwasher door and remove the series of screws (usually Torx head) around the perimeter of the inner panel.
5. With the screws removed, carefully separate the inner and outer door panels. Locate the user interface control board at the top of the door and the main electronic control board, typically at the bottom. Find the wiring harness that connects these two components.
