Problem: Ambient temperature too low for proper thermistor operation—below 40°F/4°C
How to Fix Dryer Error
- Verify room temperature where dryer is installed—must be above 40°F (4°C) for proper operation.
- If installed in unheated space (garage, basement), provide supplemental heating during cold weather or relocate dryer to heated area.
- Test inlet thermistor WP35001191 resistance at current ambient temperature—should follow standard thermistor curve (approximately 35k ohms at 40°F, 10k ohms at 70°F).
- If thermistor reading doesn’t track ambient temperature correctly, replace WP
- Inspect thermistor mounting—must be positioned in airflow path, not touching metal housing which conducts cold.
- Check for drafts directly hitting thermistor location—seal gaps in dryer cabinet if needed.
- After ambient temperature rises above 40°F, power cycle dryer (unplug 1 minute) to clear 6E code.
- Run test cycle to verify proper temperature monitoring and cycle termination.
- For permanent cold-location installations, consider installing thermostatically controlled space heater to maintain minimum 45°F ambient temperature.
Still Not Working?
If the replacement part didn’t fix the issue, you may have a wiring problem or main board failure.
