Problem: The refrigerator temperature sensor is shorted out. The fridge doesn’t know the temperature and may freeze food. Replace the sensor inside the fridge compartment.
How to Fix Er SC Error
-
- UNPLUG refrigerator from electrical power. Pull unit away from wall for rear access.
- Remove lower rear access panel to expose compressor compartment.
- Locate start capacitor (cylindrical component mounted on compressor relay).
- Discharge capacitor safely: short terminals with insulated screwdriver held by non-conductive handle.
- Disconnect wires from capacitor terminals. Note wire positions (typically HERM, RUN, COMMON).
- Test capacitor with multimeter in capacitance mode. Reading must match microfarad (µF) rating printed on capacitor casing (±6%).
- If capacitor reads low, zero, or open, replace using OEM part W
- Connect new capacitor wires to correct terminals. Secure capacitor in mounting bracket.
- Reinstall access panel. Restore power. Listen for compressor startup within 60 seconds and verify cooling in both compartments after 2 hours.
Still Not Working?
If the replacement part didn’t fix the issue, you may have a wiring problem or main board failure.
