How to Fix F21 Error (Step-by-Step)

  1. First, check the drain hose at the back of the washer. Make sure it is not kinked, clogged, or inserted too far into the standpipe (no more than 6-8 inches).
  2. If the hose is clear, unplug the washer from power.
  3. You will need to drain the remaining water from the tub. Place a shallow pan and towels on the floor and disconnect the drain hose from the standpipe to let the water drain out.
  4. To access the drain pump, you may need to tilt the machine or remove the front or back panel.
  5. Locate the drain pump at the bottom of the washer. Disconnect the hoses attached to it (be prepared for more water) and the electrical connector.
  6. Remove the screws or clips holding the old pump, and install the new one.
  7. Reconnect the hoses and electrical wire, reassemble the washer, and run a drain/spin cycle to test.
  8. Turn the appliance off, wait about 2 minutes, then turn it back on.
