How to Fix HE Error

  1. UNPLUG THE DRYER. This is a general ‘Heater Error’.
  2. First, check for 240V power at the outlet and ensure both circuit breakers are on. If power is good, proceed.
  3. Remove the rear panel. Test the components on the heater assembly: the heating element coil, the high-limit thermostat, and the thermal fuse. Use a multimeter to check for continuity on all three. Replace any part that is open (no continuity).
  4. Also, locate and test the thermistor (temperature sensor). It should have resistance (around 10kΩ at room temp), not be open.
  5. The most common cause is a blown thermal fuse due to a clogged vent. Always clean the vent after this repair.
