⚠️ Safety Warning: Appliance repair involves electricity, gas, and moving parts. Always disconnect power before working on any appliance.
Error Code: E61 Difficulty: Moderate
Problem: Heating element failure – heater circuit variant
How to Fix E61 Error
- UNPLUG THE DRYER. This code points to a failure in the heating circuit.
- Remove the rear panel to access the cylindrical heater assembly.
- Visually inspect the heating element coil for any visible breaks. Use a multimeter to test the element for continuity. A good element will have resistance; a bad one will be open (infinite resistance).
- Locate the two thermostats on the heater assembly: the high-limit thermostat and the thermal cut-off. Test both for continuity. They should both show a closed circuit (near zero ohms). If either is open, it must be replaced.
- Replace the failed component(s). It is best practice to replace both thermostats if one has failed. Always investigate and clean the vent, as a clog is the number one cause of a blown thermostat.
