Error Code: Dryer Difficulty: Easy
Problem: Door switch circuit failure—switch not detecting closed door position
How to Fix Dryer Error
- Unplug dryer and open door.
- Locate door switch WPW10441007 mounted on front panel frame where door latch strikes.
- Manually press switch plunger—should click audibly and feel positive engagement.
- Disconnect wiring harness from switch terminals.
- Set multimeter to continuity mode and test switch: plunger pressed = continuity, plunger released = open circuit.
- If switch fails continuity test, replace WPW
- Remove mounting screws (typically 2 screws) and extract old switch.
- Install new switch ensuring proper alignment with door strike—door must fully depress plunger when closed.
- Reconnect wiring harness securely.
- Close door firmly and start test cycle—dryer should operate normally. If error returns, check door alignment and strike plate position—bent door frame can prevent full switch engagement.
