How to Fix Dryer Error

  1. Unplug dryer and remove front panel to access drum and motor.
  2. Manually rotate drum—should turn smoothly with moderate resistance. Excessive drag indicates bearing failure or foreign object obstruction.
  3. Remove belt and rotate drum again—if still difficult to turn, inspect drum rollers, idler pulley, and felt seals for wear/damage.
  4. With belt removed, test motor by powering dryer briefly (CAUTION: keep hands clear)—motor should start immediately and run smoothly.
  5. If motor hums but won’t start, test start capacitor WP3392519 (typically 5-8 MFD) with capacitance meter.
  6. If motor runs but overheats quickly, test motor windings for proper resistance (2-6 ohms main winding, 4-8 ohms start winding).
  7. Replace faulty component: motor WPW10438706 ($
  8. if windings failed, or capacitor WP3392519 ($
  9. if weak.
  10. Reinstall belt with proper tension (idler pulley should deflect 1/2-3/4 inch when pressed).
  11. Test full cycle monitoring for overheating.
