⚠️ Safety Warning: Appliance repair involves electricity, gas, and moving parts. Always disconnect power before working on any appliance.
Error Code: Dryer Difficulty: Moderate
Problem: Motor thermal overload tripped due to excessive load or failing motor
How to Fix Dryer Error
- Unplug dryer and remove front panel to access drum and motor.
- Manually rotate drum—should turn smoothly with moderate resistance. Excessive drag indicates bearing failure or foreign object obstruction.
- Remove belt and rotate drum again—if still difficult to turn, inspect drum rollers, idler pulley, and felt seals for wear/damage.
- With belt removed, test motor by powering dryer briefly (CAUTION: keep hands clear)—motor should start immediately and run smoothly.
- If motor hums but won’t start, test start capacitor WP3392519 (typically 5-8 MFD) with capacitance meter.
- If motor runs but overheats quickly, test motor windings for proper resistance (2-6 ohms main winding, 4-8 ohms start winding).
- Replace faulty component: motor WPW10438706 ($
- if windings failed, or capacitor WP3392519 ($
- if weak.
- Reinstall belt with proper tension (idler pulley should deflect 1/2-3/4 inch when pressed).
- Test full cycle monitoring for overheating.
