How to Fix EF1 Error (Step-by-Step)

  1. Unplug the washer from the electrical outlet and confirm the error stays cleared during a full test cycle.
  2. Prepare some towels and a shallow pan to catch residual water.
  3. Locate the small access door for the pump filter, usually on the bottom front corner of the washer.
  4. Open the door and slowly unscrew the filter cap, allowing the water to drain into the pan.
  5. Once drained, completely remove the filter and clean it thoroughly of any lint, hair, coins, or other debris.
  6. Check inside the filter housing for any obstructions as well.
  7. Screw the filter back in securely, close the access door, and plug the washer back in.
  8. Turn the appliance off, wait about 2 minutes, then turn it back on.
