How to Fix I53 Error (Step-by-Step)

Cut power to the dishwasher via the circuit breaker and turn off the water supply line.
Slide the dishwasher out and lay it on its back on a protective blanket to access the motor.
The wash pump motor is located at the bottom of the unit. Disconnect the wire harnesses connected to it.
Use pliers to release the clamps on the hoses connected to the motor and slide them off.
Remove the fasteners securing the motor to the dishwasher frame and take out the old motor.
Position the new motor and secure it with the fasteners. Reconnect the hoses and wire harnesses.
Set the dishwasher upright, slide it back in, restore power and water, and check its function with a full cycle.
Turn the appliance off, wait about 2 minutes, then turn it back on.
