Problem: High temperature circuit fault – heater element or thermostat failure
How to Fix 9C6 Error
- Disconnect power and drain tub completely using drain cycle or manual pump-out.
- Access heating element at bottom front of outer tub (remove lower panel and element cover).
- Measure element resistance between terminals (should read 20-30Ω; OL = open circuit failure).
- Test high-limit thermostat continuity (mounted adjacent to element) – should read closed circuit at room temperature, open at 185°F.
- Replace heating element DC47-00013A if open circuit or terminals burnt/corroded.
- Replace thermostat if open circuit at room temperature.
- If both test good: replace main PCB DC92-01543A (faulty heater relay RL3 or temperature monitoring circuit).
- Verify proper water level during heat cycles – low water causes overheating errors (check pressure switch operation).
Still Not Working?
If the replacement part didn’t fix the issue, you may have a wiring problem or main board failure.
