Problem: Door lock solenoid fault – excessive current draw detected
How to Fix Washer Error
- Unplug washer immediately – excessive current can damage control board.
- Remove lower kick panel to access door lock assembly.
- Disconnect lock wiring harness and measure resistance across solenoid coils.
- Primary coil should read 300-600 ohms; secondary 1000-1500 ohms. Readings below 200 ohms indicate shorted coil.
- Inspect lock mechanism for binding that could cause solenoid to stall and overheat.
- Check lock strike plate alignment – misalignment forces solenoid to work harder.
- Verify wiring harness isn’t shorted to ground (measure resistance between each wire and chassis ground – should be infinite).
- If solenoid resistance is low or lock mechanism binds, replace door lock assembly WPW
- After replacement, monitor lock operation through 3 cycles verifying no excessive heat buildup at lock.
- If error returns with new lock, suspect main control board shorted driver circuit requiring CCU replacement.
Still Not Working?
If the replacement part didn’t fix the issue, you may have a wiring problem or main board failure.
