How to Fix F5 E1 Error (Step-by-Step)

  1. Unplug the washer from the wall outlet and confirm the error stays cleared during a full test cycle.
  2. Use a putty knife to release the clips on the left and right sides of the top console, allowing you to hinge it backwards.
  3. Locate the lid lock assembly on the washer’s top panel where the lid striker enters.
  4. Disconnect the wire harness that connects to the lid lock.
  5. Remove the mounting screws that secure the old lid lock assembly to the top panel.
  6. Position the new lid lock assembly and secure it with the mounting screws.
  7. Reconnect the wire harness, lower the console back into place, and press down to snap it shut.
  8. Restore power and test the new lid lock by starting a cycle.
