Error Code: DRN Difficulty: Moderate
Problem: Drain Error
How to Fix DRN Error (Step-by-Step)
- First, check the drain hose at the back of the washer. Ensure it is not kinked, bent, or clogged.
- Make sure the drain hose is not inserted too far into the standpipe; it should only be about 4-5 inches in.
- Unplug the washer. You will need to access the drain pump, which is usually located behind a removable front panel at the bottom of the machine.
- Place a shallow pan and towels under the pump area to catch residual water. Slowly unscrew the pump’s filter cap to drain the remaining water.
- Clean the filter of any debris, such as lint, coins, or small clothing items.
- If the filter is clear and the hose is not blocked, the drain pump itself may have failed and will need to be replaced.
- To replace the pump, disconnect the hoses and the wire connector, remove the mounting screws, and install the new pump.
- Turn the appliance off, wait about 2 minutes, then turn it back on.
