Problem: Door switch/latch failure – door not detected as closed
How to Fix Washer Error
- Unplug washer and inspect door strike plate alignment on cabinet.
- Remove lower kick panel (front-load) or top panel (top-load) to access door switch assembly.
- Manually press door switch plunger – should click positively and show continuity change on multimeter.
- Check switch mounting screws for looseness causing misalignment.
- Inspect wiring harness at switch connector for corrosion or broken wires near hinge area.
- Measure resistance across switch terminals: open when door open, closed (0 ohms) when door closed.
- Verify door glass isn’t cracked causing improper closure force.
- If switch doesn’t change state or shows intermittent continuity, replace door switch/latch assembly WPW
- After replacement, verify door locks within 3 seconds of cycle start and washer won’t operate with door ajar.
- Test all cycles to confirm consistent door detection.
