- Place the end of the drain hose into a low bucket to see if water flows out freely by gravity. If not, the hose is likely clogged.
- To inspect the drain pump, remove the lower front access panel of the washer. Place a shallow pan and a towel underneath to catch water.
- Locate the drain pump filter cap, twist it counter-clockwise to remove it, and clean out any debris like lint, coins, or buttons.
- If the filter is clear, the pump itself may have failed. You would need to disconnect the hoses and wires from the old pump and install the new one (part WPW10730972).
- Reassemble the washer, turn on the water, plug it in, and run a drain cycle to confirm the repair.
- Turn the appliance off, wait about 2 minutes, then turn it back on.
