How to Fix D9 ILLUMINATED Error (Step-by-Step)
- Unplug the refrigerator from the wall outlet to ensure safety.
- Empty the freezer compartment of all food and shelves and confirm the error stays cleared during a full test cycle.
- Locate and remove the screws holding the interior back panel of the freezer.
- Carefully detach the panel to expose the evaporator coils and the old defrost sensor, which is a small probe clipped to the coils.
- Disconnect the wire harness of the old sensor and unclip it from the coil.
- Clip the new sensor (Part WPW10384183) in the exact same position and reconnect its wire harness.
- Reinstall the back panel, shelves, and plug the refrigerator back in.
- Turn the appliance off, wait about 2 minutes, then turn it back on.
