This code means ‘Off Balance’. The first step is to pause the cycle and open the lid.
Manually redistribute the wet clothes evenly around the wash plate or agitator. Avoid washing single, heavy absorbent items (like a bath mat) by themselves.
If the code persists on multiple loads even after redistributing, the suspension rods (top-load) or shock absorbers (front-load) are likely worn out.
For a top-loader, lift the top panel and replace the four suspension rods one at a time. For a front-loader, this is a more involved repair requiring removal of the front panel to access the shocks.
