Error Code: hE Difficulty: Hard
Problem: The water is getting too hot, or the sensor thinks it is. This is often a relay on the main control board stuck in the ‘On’ position, forcing the heater to run continuously.
How to Fix hE Error
- UNPLUG the washer from electrical power. Wait 15 minutes for components to cool.
- Remove the lower front access panel to expose the heater assembly mounted on the tub.
- Disconnect electrical wires from heater terminals. Label wires for correct reconnection.
- Test heater element resistance using multimeter: proper reading is 20-40Ω. Infinite resistance indicates open element.
- Inspect wiring insulation near heater connections for melting, burns, or damage. Repair damaged sections.
- Replace faulty heater assembly using OEM part DC97-14470A: remove mounting bolts, extract old heater, clean tub mounting surface thoroughly, install new gasket, position new heater, and torque bolts to 15 ft-lbs.
- Reconnect wiring securely. Verify thermistor is functional per TE error procedure before testing.
- Reassemble panel. Run sanitize cycle while monitoring for leaks and proper heating.
