How to Fix HC Error

  1. Test heating element resistance as per HE procedure (20-30Ω normal).
  2. Inspect element terminals for corrosion or loose connections (clean with wire brush if corroded).
  3. Check high-limit thermostat continuity mounted adjacent to element (should read closed at room temp, open at 185°F).
  4. Measure voltage drop across element during operation (should see near full line voltage 110-120V AC).
  5. Replace heating element DC47-00013A if open circuit or terminals burnt.
  6. Replace thermostat if open circuit at room temperature.
  7. If element and thermostat good but no voltage at terminals: replace main PCB DC92-01543A (faulty heater relay).
