⚠️ Safety Warning: Appliance repair involves electricity, gas, and moving parts. Always disconnect power before working on any appliance.
Error Code: Dryer Difficulty: Moderate
Problem: Heater relay stuck closed causing continuous heating without cycling
How to Fix Dryer Error
- IMMEDIATE ACTION: Disconnect power at circuit breaker—stuck relay creates fire hazard.
- Remove rear panel to access heater assembly.
- Inspect heating element for signs of severe overheating (melted terminals, discolored housing).
- Check thermal fuse WP3392519 on blower housing—replace if blown (likely tripped from overheating).
- Remove control board WPW10111608 and locate heater relay.
- Visually inspect relay contacts for welding/sticking—contacts fused together indicate failure.
- Test relay contacts for continuity with power disconnected—should show open circuit. Continuity indicates welded contacts.
- Control board cannot be repaired—replace entire WPW10111608 assembly.
- Before reinstalling, verify blower wheel rotates freely and entire vent system is clear to prevent recurrence of overheating.
- After replacement, run short test cycle monitoring exhaust temperature with infrared thermometer—should cycle on/of every 45-60 seconds, not heat continuously.
