How to Fix E5A Error (Step-by-Step)

  1. Disconnect the washer from the power outlet and confirm the error stays cleared during a full test cycle.
  2. Remove the rear access panel of the washer by taking out the screws holding it in place.
  3. Locate the motor control board, which is a circuit board situated near the main drive motor at the bottom of the machine.
  4. Take a clear photo of the wire connections before proceeding.
  5. Disconnect all wire harnesses from the board. They are secured with locking tabs.
  6. Remove the screws mounting the board to the washer’s frame and install the new board.
  7. Reconnect the wires using your photo as a guide, then replace the rear panel.
  8. Turn the appliance off, wait about 2 minutes, then turn it back on.
