How to Fix E11 Error (Step-by-Step)

  1. Turn off power to the refrigerator at your home’s circuit breaker.
  2. The display control module is located in the dispenser area on the front of the door. Use a plastic putty knife or trim removal tool to gently pry the dispenser’s outer cover off.
  3. With the cover removed, you will see the display module. Take a photo of how the wires are connected.
  4. Disconnect the wire harnesses attached to the back of the old display module.
  5. Remove the screws holding the module in place and swap it with the new one.
  6. Reconnect the wire harnesses to the new module based on your reference photo.
  7. Carefully snap the dispenser cover back into place and restore power at the circuit breaker to test the new display.
  8. Turn the appliance off, wait about 2 minutes, then turn it back on.
