Error Code: E3 Difficulty: Easy
Problem: Signals that the dryer is overheating or has a temperature sensor issue, often due to a faulty thermistor or restricted airflow.
How to Fix E3 Error (Step-by-Step)
- Unplug the dryer from the power outlet for safety and confirm the error stays cleared during a full test cycle.
- Pull out the lint screen and thoroughly clean off all lint and debris.
- Inspect the lint screen housing for any accumulated lint that might be causing a blockage and use a vacuum with a narrow attachment to clean it out.
- Move the dryer away from the wall to access the exhaust vent.
- Disconnect the vent from the back of the dryer and check for any clogs or kinks in the ducting.
- Clean the entire length of the vent from the dryer to the outside of the house.
- Once everything is clear, reconnect the vent, plug the dryer back in, and try running a cycle.
- Turn the appliance off, wait about 2 minutes, then turn it back on.
Still Not Working?
If the replacement part didn’t fix the issue, you may have a wiring problem or main board failure.
