Problem: Door unlock failure – lock mechanism stuck in locked position
How to Fix Washer Error
- Unplug washer immediately to prevent lock coil overheating.
- Access emergency door release tab behind lower kick panel – pull firmly downward to manually unlock door.
- Remove kick panel to inspect door lock assembly.
- Check for foreign objects jamming lock mechanism (coins, buttons wedged in strike area).
- Disconnect lock wiring harness and manually cycle lock plunger to verify mechanical freedom.
- Measure resistance across lock coils – infinite resistance indicates open coil requiring replacement.
- Inspect lock mounting screws for over-tightening causing binding.
- Verify door alignment isn’t forcing excessive pressure on lock mechanism.
- If mechanical operation is smooth but lock won’t release electrically, replace door lock assembly WPW
- After replacement, verify lock releases within 120 seconds after cycle completion and doesn’t overheat during operation.
Still Not Working?
If the replacement part didn’t fix the issue, you may have a wiring problem or main board failure.
