Problem: Door switch stuck closed—detecting door closed when actually open
How to Fix Dryer Error
- Unplug dryer and observe door switch WPW10441007 plunger with door open—plunger should be fully extended (not depressed).
- If plunger appears stuck inward, manually pull plunger outward while spraying contact cleaner into mechanism.
- Work plunger in/out 10-15 times to free mechanism.
- Disconnect wiring harness and test switch continuity with multimeter: plunger extended (door open) should show open circuit; plunger pressed (door closed) should show continuity.
- If switch shows continuity with plunger extended, internal contacts are welded—replace WPW
- Remove mounting screws and extract old switch.
- Install new switch ensuring proper alignment—door strike must fully depress plunger only when door is completely closed.
- Verify door gasket is not torn or folded inward preventing proper door closure.
- Reconnect wiring and test—dryer should not start with door open, and should start immediately when door closes fully.
- Error code clears automatically after successful door operation.
Still Not Working?
If the replacement part didn’t fix the issue, you may have a wiring problem or main board failure.
