Problem: Dispenser door solenoid failure preventing ice/water chute opening
How to Fix Refrigerator Error
- UNPLUG refrigerator.
- Remove dispenser facade/grille to access solenoid assembly (mounted behind dispenser chute door).
- Disconnect wiring harness and test solenoid coil for continuity (should read 100-300 ohms).
- Manually operate solenoid plunger – should move freely without binding.
- Check for ice buildup around solenoid mechanism – defrost completely if frozen.
- Replace solenoid assembly if electrically open or mechanically seized.
- Verify proper alignment of solenoid plunger with dispenser door actuator after installation.
- Test dispenser operation – chute door should open fully within 1 second of request.
Still Not Working?
If the replacement part didn’t fix the issue, you may have a wiring problem or main board failure.
