⚠️ Safety Warning: Appliance repair involves electricity, gas, and moving parts. Always disconnect power before working on any appliance.
Error Code: Dryer Difficulty: Easy
Problem: Low or no line voltage detected at heater circuit—missing L2 leg of 240V supply
How to Fix Dryer Error
- Disconnect power at circuit breaker.
- Remove rear panel to access power cord terminal block.
- Restore power at breaker and carefully measure voltage at terminal block with multimeter: L1 to Neutral = 120V, L2 to Neutral = 120V, L1 to L2 = 240V.
- If L1-L2 reads 120V instead of 240V, L2 leg is missing—check circuit breaker for partial trip (one pole tripped while other remains on). Reset breaker fully OFF then ON.
- If voltage correct at terminal block but not reaching heater, test thermal fuse WP3392519 on blower housing for continuity—replace if open.
- Check high-limit thermostat WP3392914 for continuity—replace if open.
- Inspect wiring between terminal block and heater for loose connections or burnt terminals—repair as needed.
- If household voltage is correct but dryer still shows F4E4, test house outlet with appliance-rated voltmeter—may require electrician to repair faulty circuit breaker or wiring.
- After repair, verify 240V at heating element terminals during heat cycle.
- Monitor exhaust temperature to confirm proper heating operation.
