How to Fix H2O LIGHT Error (Step-by-Step)

  1. Locate the water filter. It is usually found in the base grille at the bottom of the refrigerator or inside the upper-right corner of the fresh food compartment.
  2. If in the grille, turn the filter cap counter-clockwise to remove it. If inside, there may be a push-button to eject it.
  3. Pull the old filter straight out and discard it and confirm the error stays cleared during a full test cycle.
  4. Remove the cap from the new filter and align it with the housing, pushing it in firmly until it clicks into place.
  5. On the control panel, press and hold the ‘Water Filter’ button for about three seconds to reset the indicator light.
  6. Dispense and discard about two gallons of water to flush the new filter system before use.
  7. Turn the appliance off, wait about 2 minutes, then turn it back on.
