How to Fix F19 Error (Step-by-Step)

  1. Unplug the washing machine from the electrical outlet and confirm the error stays cleared during a full test cycle.
  2. Remove the back panel of the washer to access the heating element, which is located at the bottom of the tub.
  3. Disconnect the wires from the heating element terminals and confirm the error stays cleared during a full test cycle.
  4. Loosen the nut that secures the heating element in place, but do not remove it completely.
  5. Gently pry the old heating element out of the tub. This may require some force if it is sealed tightly.
  6. Insert the new heating element into the tub, ensuring the rubber seal is properly seated. Tighten the retaining nut and reconnect the wires.
  7. Reattach the back panel, plug in the washer, and run a hot water cycle to test the new element.
  8. Turn the appliance off, wait about 2 minutes, then turn it back on.
