Problem: Refrigerator temperature sensor fault (R1, upper part)

How to Fix rS Error

  1. Unplug the refrigerator.
  2. Locate the refrigerator temperature sensor. It is in the fresh food section, usually high up along the back or side wall, behind a small plastic cover.
  3. Use a small screwdriver to gently pry off the sensor’s cover.
  4. Disconnect the wire harness connected to the sensor.
  5. Unclip the old sensor from its housing.
  6. Snap the new sensor into the housing.
  7. Reconnect the wire harness.
  8. Snap the cover back into place.
  9. Plug the refrigerator back in.
