How to Fix Maytag Dryer Error E2

⚠️ Safety Warning: Appliance repair involves electricity, gas, and moving parts. Always disconnect power before working on any appliance.

Error Code: E2 Difficulty: Moderate

Problem: Thermistor Failure (Legacy)

How to Fix E2 Error

  1. Unplug the dryer or shut off its circuit breaker.
  2. The thermistor is a small sensor located on the blower housing or heater duct. You may need to remove the rear or front panel to access it.
  3. Disconnect the wire harness from the thermistor.
  4. Use a multimeter to test its resistance. At room temperature (around 77°F/25°C), it should read approximately 10,000 ohms. A significantly different reading, or a reading of infinity, means it’s faulty.
  5. Replace the thermistor, reconnect the wiring, and reassemble the dryer.
