⚠️ Safety Warning: Appliance repair involves electricity, gas, and moving parts. Always disconnect power before working on any appliance.
Error Code: Refrigerator Difficulty: Moderate
Problem: Freezer defrost sensor fault; sensor monitoring evaporator temperature during defrost cycle malfunctioning
How to Fix Refrigerator Error
- Unplug refrigerator from electrical power.
- Remove freezer interior panels and evaporator cover to access defrost sensor mounted on evaporator coil assembly.
- Disconnect wiring harness from sensor connector. Note exact routing before removal.
- Measure resistance across sensor terminals with multimeter at current temperature. Compare to service manual specifications for defrost sensor.
- If sensor reads open circuit, shorted, or out of range: remove mounting clip or adhesive securing sensor to evaporator tube.
- Gently extract sensor from evaporator mounting location. Clean evaporator tube surface with isopropyl alcohol.
- Apply thermal conductive paste to sensing tip of new sensor.
- Install replacement defrost sensor using OEM part DA32-10106R. Secure to evaporator tube with mounting clip or high-temperature adhesive.
- Route wiring harness away from sharp evaporator edges. Reconnect harness securely.
- Reassemble evaporator cover and interior panels. Restore power. Monitor defrost cycle operation to ensure proper termination and temperature recovery.
