Problem: Lid lock failure – lid not locking properly (Cabrio top-load models)
How to Fix Washer Error
- Unplug washer and verify lid closes fully without obstruction.
- Remove top panel to access lid lock assembly mounted under main top.
- Manually operate lock mechanism – should move smoothly between locked/unlocked positions.
- Disconnect lock wiring harness and measure resistance across coils (primary 300-600 ohms, secondary 1000-1500 ohms).
- Verify 120V AC reaches lock during operation (test at connector with lid closed).
- Inspect lock strike plate alignment on lid – should engage smoothly without binding.
- Check wiring harness between lock and control board for damage near hinge area.
- If lock mechanism binds mechanically, lubricate pivot points with silicone grease.
- If electrical tests fail or mechanism is damaged, replace lid lock assembly WPW
- After replacement, verify lock engages within 3 seconds of cycle start and washer won’t operate with lid open.
