⚠️ Safety Warning: Appliance repair involves electricity, gas, and moving parts. Always disconnect power before working on any appliance.
Error Code: Refrigerator Difficulty: Easy
Problem: Condenser fan overcurrent fault – excessive current draw detected
How to Fix Refrigerator Error
- Unplug refrigerator immediately – overcurrent can damage control board fan drivers.
- Pull unit away from wall and remove rear access panel.
- Manually spin condenser fan blade – check for binding indicating seized bearings or obstructions.
- Inspect fan blade for cracks or deformation causing imbalance.
- Disconnect fan wiring harness and measure resistance across motor terminals (should read 50-200 ohms).
- Resistance below 40 ohms indicates shorted windings requiring motor replacement.
- Check for short circuits between motor terminals and ground (should be infinite resistance).
- Clean condenser coils thoroughly – restricted airflow causes motor to overwork and overheat.
- If motor resistance is low or shows shorts to ground, replace condenser fan motor WPW
- After replacement, verify fan runs smoothly during compressor operation without overheating.
