How to Fix Refrigerator Error

  1. Unplug refrigerator immediately – overcurrent can damage control board fan drivers.
  2. Remove rear wall panel in freezer compartment to access evaporator fan.
  3. Manually spin fan blade – check for binding indicating seized bearings or ice obstruction.
  4. Inspect fan blade for cracks or deformation causing imbalance and excessive current draw.
  5. Disconnect fan wiring harness and measure resistance across motor terminals (should read 50-150 ohms).
  6. Resistance below 30 ohms indicates shorted windings requiring motor replacement.
  7. Check for short circuits between motor terminals and ground (should be infinite resistance).
  8. Inspect wiring harness for damaged insulation causing intermittent shorts.
  9. If motor resistance is low or shows shorts to ground, replace evaporator fan motor WPW
  10. After replacement, monitor fan current draw during operation (should not exceed
  11. 5 amps for 12V fans or
  12. 3 amps for 120V fans).
