Error Code: PE1 Difficulty: Moderate
Problem: Clutch hall sensor error
How to Fix PE1 Error
- UNPLUG THE WASHER. This error points to a failure of the Hall sensor on the clutch motor assembly (on applicable top-load models).
- You must access the bottom of the washer by tilting it back or laying it on its front on protective blankets.
- The clutch motor assembly is located on the gearcase. The sensor is part of this assembly and is not typically sold separately.
- The repair is to replace the entire clutch motor assembly. Disconnect the wire harness, remove the mounting bolts, and install the new assembly. This can be a difficult part to access and replace.
