Error Code: PE1 Difficulty: Moderate

Problem: Clutch hall sensor error

How to Fix PE1 Error

  1. UNPLUG THE WASHER. This error points to a failure of the Hall sensor on the clutch motor assembly (on applicable top-load models).
  2. You must access the bottom of the washer by tilting it back or laying it on its front on protective blankets.
  3. The clutch motor assembly is located on the gearcase. The sensor is part of this assembly and is not typically sold separately.
  4. The repair is to replace the entire clutch motor assembly. Disconnect the wire harness, remove the mounting bolts, and install the new assembly. This can be a difficult part to access and replace.
