How to Fix Samsung Washer Error EA

Error Code: EA Difficulty: Moderate

Problem: Motor tachometer / hall sensor error (legacy)

How to Fix EA Error

  1. Unplug the washer and turn off the water supply. Tape the lid shut.
  2. Carefully tilt the washer and lay it on its back or front on a towel to access the bottom.
  3. Remove the large bolt in the center of the rotor and pull the rotor off the motor shaft.
  4. Remove the bolts holding the motor stator to the tub assembly and carefully pull the stator off.
  5. The hall sensor is a small plastic component attached to the stator. Remove the screws or clips securing the old sensor.
  6. Install the new hall sensor, ensuring it snaps into place and the terminals are aligned. Secure it with its screws/clips.
  7. Re-install the stator onto the tub bearing housing and tighten the mounting bolts.
  8. Place the rotor back onto the shaft and secure it with the central bolt.
  9. Carefully set the washer upright, reconnect power and water, and run a test cycle.
