⚠️ Safety Warning: Appliance repair involves electricity, gas, and moving parts. Always disconnect power before working on any appliance.
Error Code: Refrigerator Difficulty: Moderate
Problem: Flash code 1: Freezer temperature sensor fault (non-display models); identical failure mode to 1E code
How to Fix Refrigerator Error
- Unplug refrigerator from electrical power or switch off dedicated circuit breaker.
- Remove freezer interior panels to access temperature sensor mounted on evaporator cover or freezer wall.
- Disconnect wiring harness from sensor connector. Note routing path before removal.
- Measure resistance across sensor terminals with multimeter at current freezer temperature. Compare to service manual chart (e.g., at 0°F/-18°C should be ~17kΩ).
- If reading is infinite (open circuit), zero (shorted), or deviates >15% from specifications: remove mounting clip or screw securing sensor.
- Gently extract sensor from mounting well without damaging threads or surrounding components.
- Clean mounting well thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol and lint-free cloth.
- Apply thin layer of thermal conductive paste to sensing tip of new sensor.
- Install replacement temperature sensor using OEM part DA32-10104R. Secure in mounting clip or with screw tightened to 3 in-lbs.
- Route wiring away from sharp edges and moving parts. Reconnect harness until audible click. Reassemble interior panels. Restore power and monitor freezer temperature for 2 hours to confirm accurate readings.
