How to Fix Dryer Error

  • UNPLUG dryer from electrical power. Allow 45 minutes for heating components to cool completely.
  • Remove rear access panel to expose heater assembly and wiring.
  • Disconnect electrical wires from heater terminals. Label connections for reassembly.
  • Test heater element resistance with multimeter: proper reading 10-30Ω. Zero resistance indicates short circuit.
  • Inspect wiring harness near heater connections for melted insulation, burn marks, or evidence of arcing. Repair damaged sections.
  • Replace faulty heater assembly using OEM part DC97-15010A: remove mounting screws, extract old unit, clean heating chamber thoroughly, install new assembly with fresh gasket, torque screws evenly to 12 in-lbs.
  • Verify thermal fuse continuity mounted on heater housing. Replace if open circuit.
  • Reconnect wiring securely. Reinstall panels. Restore power and run timed dry cycle while monitoring for proper heating and absence of burning smells or error recurrence.
