How to Fix Dishwasher Error

  1. Unplug dishwasher and allow 30 minutes for components to cool completely.
  2. Remove lower access panel to expose heater assembly mounted on tub bottom.
  3. Disconnect electrical wires from heater terminals. Label connections for reassembly.
  4. Test heater element resistance with multimeter: proper reading 15-30Ω. Infinite = open element.
  5. Test thermal fuse continuity (mounted on heater housing). Replace if open circuit.
  6. Inspect wiring insulation near heater connections for melting, burns, or damage. Repair damaged sections.
  7. Remove mounting bolts securing heater assembly to tub. Note gasket position.
  8. Extract old heater assembly. Clean tub mounting surface thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol.
  9. Install new heater assembly using OEM part DD97-00001A with new gasket. Torque bolts to 12 in-lbs in crisscross pattern.
  10. Reconnect wires securely. Restore power. Run Sanitize cycle while verifying water reaches 155°F and no leaks at heater mounting.
