Problem: Heating element fault; open circuit, shorted element, or thermal fuse activation
How to Fix Dishwasher Error
- Unplug dishwasher and allow 30 minutes for components to cool completely.
- Remove lower access panel to expose heater assembly mounted on tub bottom.
- Disconnect electrical wires from heater terminals. Label connections for reassembly.
- Test heater element resistance with multimeter: proper reading 15-30Ω. Infinite = open element.
- Test thermal fuse continuity (mounted on heater housing). Replace if open circuit.
- Inspect wiring insulation near heater connections for melting, burns, or damage. Repair damaged sections.
- Remove mounting bolts securing heater assembly to tub. Note gasket position.
- Extract old heater assembly. Clean tub mounting surface thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol.
- Install new heater assembly using OEM part DD97-00001A with new gasket. Torque bolts to 12 in-lbs in crisscross pattern.
- Reconnect wires securely. Restore power. Run Sanitize cycle while verifying water reaches 155°F and no leaks at heater mounting.
