Error Code: HE Difficulty: Moderate
Problem: Heater error – dryer unable to generate or maintain heat
How to Fix HE Error
- UNPLUG THE DRYER. This is a general ‘Heater Error’.
- First, check for 240V power at the outlet and ensure both circuit breakers are on. If power is good, proceed.
- Remove the rear panel. Test the components on the heater assembly: the heating element coil, the high-limit thermostat, and the thermal fuse. Use a multimeter to check for continuity on all three. Replace any part that is open (no continuity).
- Also, locate and test the thermistor (temperature sensor). It should have resistance (around 10kΩ at room temp), not be open.
- The most common cause is a blown thermal fuse due to a clogged vent. Always clean the vent after this repair.
