How to Fix EA1 Error (Step-by-Step)

1. Safety First: Unplug the washer from the electrical outlet and turn off both the hot and cold water supply valves. Have a bucket and towels ready for any residual water.
2. Access the Control Panel and Top: For most top-load models, you will need to remove screws at the back of the control console to flip it up. Then, release the clips holding the main top panel of the washer and lift it off to expose the drum and internal components.
3. Locate and Replace DSP Sensor: The Drum Positioning System (DSP) sensor is typically located near the motor and the large drum pulley at the bottom or side of the tub. Carefully unplug the wire connector from the sensor. Remove the screws or clips holding it in place, and install the new sensor, ensuring it is securely fastened.
4. Locate the Main Control Board: The main control board is the electronic brain of the washer, usually housed in a plastic casing within the control console area you accessed earlier.
5. Replace the Main Control Board: Before touching the board, ground yourself to dissipate static electricity. Take a clear photo of all wire connections. Methodically unplug each wiring harness from the old board. Release the locking tabs or remove the mounting screws holding the board in place. Install the new board and carefully reconnect all wiring harnesses exactly as they were on the old one, using your photo as a guide.
6. Reassemble the Washer: Securely place the main top panel back onto the washer cabinet, ensuring all clips are engaged. Lower the control console and fasten it with its screws.
7. Turn the appliance off, wait about 2 minutes, then turn it back on.
