How to Fix C7 Error (Step-by-Step)

  1. Disconnect the washer from the power outlet and shut off both water supply valves.
  2. Drain any remaining water from the machine by lowering the drain hose into a bucket.
  3. Remove the lower front access panel or the entire rear panel, depending on your model, to access the heating element at the base of the tub.
  4. Locate the heating element terminals. Disconnect the electrical wires attached to them.
  5. Loosen the central nut on the element. This will release the pressure on the rubber seal, allowing you to remove it.
  6. Carefully pull the old heating element (Part #137488301) straight out of the tub. Some wiggling may be required.
  7. Insert the new heating element, tighten the nut to create a watertight seal, reconnect the wires, and reassemble the access panel.
  8. Turn the appliance off, wait about 2 minutes, then turn it back on.
