⚠️ Safety Warning: Appliance repair involves electricity, gas, and moving parts. Always disconnect power before working on any appliance.
Error Code: E5 Difficulty: Easy
Problem: Showroom Mode is active. The compressor, fan, and defrost heater remain off, while the display shows the set temperature instead of the actual temperature.
How to Fix E5 Error (Step-by-Step)
- Confirm the refrigerator is in Showroom Mode. The lights will work and the display will show a temperature, but you will not hear the compressor or fans running.
- Access the control panel on the front of the refrigerator door.
- Press and hold the ‘Freezer Temperature Up’ button and the ‘Refrigerator Temperature Up’ button at the same time.
- Continue holding both buttons for approximately 10-15 seconds and confirm the error stays cleared during a full test cycle.
- The control panel may beep or flash, and the display should return to normal operation.
- Listen for the compressor and fans to turn on within a few minutes, which confirms the unit is now in normal cooling mode.
- Turn the appliance off, wait about 2 minutes, then turn it back on.
Still Not Working?
If the replacement part didn’t fix the issue, you may have a wiring problem or main board failure.
